It's with a bit of sadness that I write this post. We have decided to shut down the W3D version of Renegade Alert and will be moving to the Source engine for a more complete gaming experience.
I realize some of you will not be able to come on this journey with us, but that means you need to find a way to do it or be left behind. The WOL server is probably not going to come back online, and if it does, our playerbase is gone anyway. As it stands, after lots of self-checking and lots of evaulation of the WOL gaming community, nothing produced after Half Life 2's release will grab any player count worth the effort of continuing work on the W3D engine.
This means quite a few changes are going to happen. If we pull this off, and I hope to all the deities listening that we do, you will have one of the most immersive Command & Conquer experiences ever produced. It will be something beyond your wildest expectations and make you wish we had switched sooner.
We have a very dedicated development team, and they will stay on with us as we continue to work. However, for the time being we are going to be taking a hiatus until everyone is equipped with the Half Life 2 product. Model design will still continue - make no doubt about that. We will be showing off the new Soviet Hind soon. Most units that were recently shown will stay on, others will be getting upgraded for the Source version of Renegade Alert.
The name Renegade Alert will also be changed into something relating to Command & Conquer, losing the despicable name of "Renegade" that is also associated with a horrible game for the NES in the late 1980s called Renegade, too.
For those staying with us, welcome to a new future of Command & Conquer! For those who are not, we wish you the best and hope you'll be able to rejoin us in our quest for the best C&C experience ever made.
These forums will stay open, but the HL2 section will be promoted to the top soon. Expect to see lots of progress in both gameplay, graphics, and overall fun.
